The Lion King Musical Using 360° Video Technology



Blockbuster Disney’s classic, The Lion King is running with houseful shows at the magnificent Lyceum Theatre London! Recently, Broadway theatre has filmed its iconic opening number Circle of Life using immersive reality technology. This technology has been used for the first time in the Broadway Theatre. For the creation of first ever virtual reality experience, 360 degree footage has been compiled.

The stunning visualisation of landscapes, sporting events or concerts enable viewers to catch the mesmerizing view of The Lion King from the point of view of actors. Audience are unable to catch this view. In a seamless 360 degree sweep, the camera enables viewers to catch numbers inside it.

The President and Producer Disney Theatrical Productions, Thomas Schumacher stated, “In our 19th year on Broadway, Lyceum Theatre of London continues to be embraced to an unprecedented degree around the world, and we are humbled.” He further added, “But with that success comes the responsibility to consistently find new ways of sharing Julie Taymor’s bold artistry.
